Batteries are a key component in a grid-tie with backup or a stand alone renewable energy system -- one that all other components rely on. With simple monthly and quarterly maintenance procedures, your batteries should last a long time. We offer gel, AGM, nicad, and flooded lead-acid batteries. Flooded Lead Acid Batteries have the longes track record, the longest life and least cost per amp-hour but require regular maintenance including watering, equalizing charges and keeping the top and terminals clean. Absorbed Glass Mat Sealed Lead Acid (AGM) Batteries are being used more as the price comes down and require less maintenance. ideal for grid-tied solar systems requiring battery back-up. Completely sealed, they cannot be spilled, don't require watering and emit no corrosive fumes. Also well suited to systems tht get infrequent use. Gelled Electrolyte Sealed Lead Acid Batteries are losing market share to AGMs with similar advantages over flooded lead acid batteries. Slowest to charge because if charged too quickly, gas pockets form on the plates forcing the gelled electrolyte away from the plates and reducing the capacity. For use in a grid-tie with back-up system or any system where discharge rates are less than severe.
